The French Bulldog Club of England
Championship Show - November 10th 2024
CRITIQUES BELOW
Judge – Mr Colin Blair (Twinhoe)
In 1977 Tarka the working Pointer came into my life, soon after I had left home aged 19 to work with horses. I had no idea there was a difference in working and showing lines. She was my pride and joy, and I decided to enter her at Bath Championship Show, my local. I did not have a clue and entered her from novice through to open coming last in all classes, but I was bitten by the show bug. Several more Pointers followed before I joined forces with Malcolm Poulton showing under the Mallysmar affix. The kennel, over a relatively short period (1984 -1987) was phenomenally successful making up champions in Skye Terriers, Tibet Terriers and a stunning Lhaso Apso handled by Geoff Corish.
I was initially not keen for French Bulldogs to join the kennel but a visit to see Maureen Bootles' Tommyville Frenchies completely changed my mind. Maureen was heading off to Sweden to start a new life and after much persuasion she agreed to leave Dinah (Ashleam Dinah of Tommyville) with us in partnership. Dinah was the most beautiful bitch sired by Ch Tommyville Tommy but sadly she died young. More Tommyvilles followed Ch Tommyville Tee Vee Star at Mallysmar, Ch Tommyville Theadora for Twinhoe and the CC winning Tommyville Tantrum at Twinhoe, sired by Ch Twinhoe Vernon. Vernon came out at Bath Ch show in puppy taking the reserve CC. He was Group 3 at LKA and Group 4 at Crufts at a time when Frenchies rarely got a look in at Group level.
As well as numerous judging appointments in the UK, I have been honoured to judge in Europe, Russia, and Australia.
I am very much looking forward to my judging appointment with the Parent club in November
